Journalist? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Journalists

I've said this many times here but I must repeat myself. Katie Couric bugs the shit out of me. I don't know if it's here always peppy delivery - which I find fake and obnoxious - or the fact that she's perceived as a "news" person. And now she's lleaving the Today Show to replace Dan Rather. According to Maureen Dowd today, this country needs a female news anchor at the Big 3 before we'll elect a female commander in chief so I guess it's a good thing. But I can't help but recall the stunt where Katie and Jay Leno traded desks during a sweeps stunt - or has the network nightly newscast just a serious talk show gig now?
